Basenji on snow

Posted in Photography, The Dog Models Project with tags , , , , , , on January 26, 2009 by mirkawolf

This year, we had surprisingly lasting snow here in Brussels. I think it was a record – snow lasting even in the city for a week. Ponds frozen to the point that people could go ice-skate. And what I did? I chased people and their dogs around for getting photos of dogs on snow. And so here they are – little African dogs – on snow 🙂

Basenji are small, elegant-looking, short-haired dogs with erect ears and tightly curled tail. The basenji is an athletic dog and is deceptively powerful for its size. This breed does not slobber or drool, and very rarely pants (as dogs do). The Basenji has the unique properties of not barking (it makes a low, liquid ululation instead) and cleaning itself like a cat. The Basenji is alert, affectionate, energetic, and curious.  It loves to play and makes a great pet, as long as it is handled regularly from an early age and the owners are very patient. It can be reserved with strangers.

It´s my pleasure to announce, that the works on Dog Calendars for 2010 are finished! At least from my side, now it´s in the hands of the publishers… The contract has been signed, the photos were chosen and the dog winners, that will appear in the calendars are known. Owners of the dogs participating in the calendars will know, for the rest of you, I will introduce the dogs here.

Dog Calendars

The dog calendars for 2009 are finished and printed. The owners of dogs pictured in them have been contacted by e-mail, the work is done. However … there is still on-going work on calendars for 2010! There is still a few dogs needed, though most of the pictures are already in the bag 🙂 In the dog calendars 2010, some very special breeds will be presented, such as Petite Brabancon, Silken Windhound, Bandog or Entlebucher Cattle Dog. This is one thing I love on the photography of dogs – the sheer variation of dog breeds that I get to meet and photograph 🙂

I have made a small collage of a fraction of pictures, I took recently of the dogs. Enjoy 🙂

Too many photos, too many dogs, no time…

Posted in Photography, The Dog Models Project with tags , , , , , , , on May 27, 2008 by mirkawolf

I´ve been recently taking hundreds of photos of various dogs (and not only dogs). I will certainly share some of them with you, but to edit such amount of pictures takes time, which is something that I don´t have at the moment. (I am busy going to take some more photos, of course…). I promise to post some photos as soon as I can though.

I also updated the list of dog breeds photographed for the next calendars (see “Pages” on the menu).

I felt this post was boring without picture, so I had to come back and add a photo. This time, not a dog, for a change 🙂

Sunday with dogs and a hamster

Posted in Photography, The Dog Models Project with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 7, 2008 by mirkawolf

I was very busy last weeks and I did not have time to be adding posts about my last photosessions. One memorable photo event happened to me in April, when I was invited to Antwerp to photograph 12 different dogs for their owners, and also one little hamster 🙂 That day brought many very nice shots, and I´ve made a little album for those who would like to see a few of them.

For the calendar project, I also photographed very nice rhodesian ridgeback of Czech owner Ivona Brynova 🙂

Dog Calendars 2009 – first look

Posted in Photography, The Dog Models Project with tags , , , , , , on April 17, 2008 by mirkawolf

Finally it is here. I know many of you have been waiting and wondering, if those calendars with your dog in it will ever come true. Here they are. I just received first views of the new calendars. There will be three versions – standard table calendar, mini table calendar and a postcard calendar. I received views for all the three, so here I am going to share with you.

The calendars are not printed yet and are still subject to correction and finalisation of the content. Once they are printed and available for purchase, I will inform all the owners of the pictured dogs again via e-mail.

The photoshoot for calendars 2010 is in full swing now. If you have a nice looking purebreed dog and would you like to see him in a calendar, don´t hesitate to contact me. Please note that I am located in Brussels, Belgium.

Crazy Easter

Posted in Photography, The Dog Models Project with tags , , , , , , , , , , on March 27, 2008 by mirkawolf

I don´t recall such cold and snowy Easter for years. One day I was in Huizingen park, photographing some flowers (finally!), next day I photographed dogs on snow. So much for spring photos for the dog calendars – we got winter one´s! On the pictures is labrador retriever Elis and puppy border terrier Biba.
